When you are falsely accused, you do your best to prove you are right, don't you?

The high priest asked Jesus if it was true that He will destroy the temple, like the witnesses said, but He did not say anything, He remained silent.

Then He was asked again if He was the Son of God.

Jesus answered:

I am! And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.

These words were what the high priest needed to convict Jesus to death. All he needed was the roman emperor, Pilate, to accept the condemnation.
