If you truly love me, do it!

What is true love? Love is not created or invented by man, but is an eternal moral quality, a reality that is part of God. Love exists because God exists, and every definition of love must be related to or put into God's light. He is our standard, the One from whom we should learn. In His love, God the Father gave the Son as a sacrifice for our sins. In His love, God the Son gave Himself as a sacrifice for sin.

We learn from God that in our love, we must offer, we must give for the good and happiness of the loved one. We must not demand or force them to do what they don’t want to do or what would bring them bitterness.

Also, because God is our standard, what we give to the loved one must coincide with God's standard and will.

Love will never perish, because God is love, the Lord Jesus is love. Love will not perish because it comes from God who is eternal. And if the relationship ends because you didn't want to give what you were asked to give – since it is against God's standards – then it's not true love.
