Do you remember what the Israelites had done? As soon as Moses saw the golden calf, he broke the tablets on which the ten commandments were written: “See! That’s how you broke your friendship with God.”

Moses was right. God said, “If you behave like this, I cannot be with you. I would have to kill you, like the Egyptians.”

So Moses set up a special tent, and when the Israelites wanted to pray, they now had to go to that special tent. God was not with them because of what they had done.

Moses and others who loved God were sorry. They asked God for forgiveness.
