The chasm is an image of our separation from God.

Many times people think that they can get to Heaven by doing good deeds or by comparing themselves with others, but this is wrong.

Think of all the commandments you have learned so far. Have you obeyed them all, without exception? Certainly not. No one is able to do it. All of us have fallen short of God’s standards (Romans 3:23) and that is why we need God’s forgiveness.

Tell Him in prayer that you are sorry for having disobeyed His commandments and ask Him to forgive you. Because the Lord Jesus was punished for your sin, by dying on the cross, God can forgive you.
