Eve ran down the hall and put her shoes on. It went badly without using her hands, the nail polish had not dried yet.
Eve hoped everyone would be astonished. Hopefully the girls would be outside. Who would she meet?
“Wow, you´re so heavily made-up! Does your mom know about this?” Her neighbour was shocked when she saw Eve in the hallway. Eve stopped for a moment, but then ran out. Her neighbour just didn’t understand.
“Wow, you scared me!”
“Did you fall into a bucket of paint?”
These were the boys from the playground. Those idiots.
“Have you seen yourself?”
She did not expect such a reaction from her friend.
“I wanted to look like mom.”
“Oh,” her friend tried not to burst out laughing.
It was like a nightmare. Eve certainly was in the centre of attention, but not the way she wanted.
“Wait, I need to post this on YouTube!” Shouted one of the older girls. That was the last straw for Eve. She couldn’t hold her tears back and ran back to her entrance. Just one of her girlfriends followed her. But she laughed as well. Eve slammed the door deliberately behind her. She was pounding on the apartment door when her mother came to open it. She couldn´t even express her shock and she had a colourful imprint of Eve’s face on her T-shirt.
“I wanted to be as beautiful as you,” Eve cried, burying her head into her mother’s belly.
“It’s nice to be beautiful,” her mother said, “but if you try to do so by disobedience, you will end up worse than the Israelites with their golden calf. And you made fun of them.”
