One day Eve walked close to the special tree. Someone said something to her. It was Satan, God’s enemy. He was in a serpent’s body. The serpent talked to Eve and told her to eat the fruit. “Did God say you can’t eat from any tree in the garden ?” Eve said to the serpent, “We may eat from all the trees except the one in the middle. God said if we eat that fruit we will die.”

Satan said, “You won’t die. God knows if you eat that fruit, you’ll be like God.” Eve ate the fruit from the special tree. She gave some to Adam. They did not obey God and that made God sad. Adam and Eve were sad too. They knew they disobeyed God. Disobeying God is called sin. Sin must be punished.
