The Art of Forgiveness

Pay Me Back! Pay Me Back!

Debtor

The man ran out of the king’s palace so happy. On the way home he met another man. Suddenly he remembered, this man owes me some money. It was not a very big sum, certainly not if you compare it to the great sum that he himself had owed the king. Now, what will he do?

He grabbed the servant and began to choke him. “Pay me what you owe!” he demanded. The other man fell to his knees, and begged, “Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.” But the man whom the king had pardoned was not patient or kind. He had the man who owed him some money taken off to prison for not paying his debt.

Some people had been watching and listening. They were very upset and they went and told the king what had happened. The king was so disappointed and angry that he decided to punish the man whom he had forgiven. The story ends with the man in jail and miserable.

What an unhappy ending to the story! A lot of people were angry, upset and sad.

Have you asked the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins and save you? Yes? Then, if He has forgiven you so much, be sure to thank Him each day and ask Him to help you to forgive others when they do something that hurts you. It is not always easy to forgive. But God can help you to do so.

Will You Forgive?

The yellow dots show you how much you owed God (and there are few of them). Write next to the red dots the things you want to forgive people around you.
