Veronica was a skillful and smart girl. She had already learned to recognize letters of the alphabet in kindergarten, and now in the first grade she was able to read really well. She sometimes made a mistake in counting, but her teacher spoke very well of her.

Veronica had also made a lot of friends in kindergarten. They always played together, and Veronica had a lot of ideas about what they could do. But most of all she wanted to be a princess. She could vividly imagine herself walking around the castle, having lots of maids, wearing beautiful clothes and being admired by everyone.

"How is the new girl in class?" her mother asked Veronica one evening.

"Jenny?" Replied Veronica, "she’s stupid!"

"What are you saying?" her mom rebuked her.

"It's true," Veronica defended herself. "When we read, she reads P insted of B when it is on the board. And she does that all the time. I told the girls that Jenny is stupid and that we were not going to talk with her. And she's still bothering us. She should learn how to read first! ”

"Enough!" her mom interrupted her. "You also sometimes make a mistake in counting. How would you feel if the girls didn't talk to you then?”

"They are not allowed to," said Veronica, "I'm a princess and I say what we’re going to do."

"Then you should help Jenny to make friends, princesses help others."

"No! Princesses don't help, princesses give orders!” Veronica got angry and stamped her foot in order for her mom to realize she didn't like it.
