“I just don't recognize my friend anymore. He always dreams with his eyes open. He's got no appetite, he, who was eating enough for two. He can't concentrate in class or on any serious discussion we're having. He's not in the mood for life and he doesn’t do his homework. Sometimes he's touchy and irritable. He barely says two words in a calm tone to his family. And he keeps complaining that no one understands him.
What's with him? Did he fall in love? I've noticed him a few times staring at a girl in school. What am I supposed to do? How can I help my friend get back on his feet?”
It is the dilemma that a teenage girl has presented to me and which, unfortunately, is the dilemma of many.
The Bible gives us an example from which we can see what kind of love this is. And as the Word of the Lord is our guide in this life, let us return to the Word.
